Economy bad….but we will not give up.

Hi all, Randall here with PlaceOfClocks.com.  As we sit watching the unemployment numbers creep higher and the news casters slump in their seats, it occurs to us that many of the “doom and gloom” self proclaimed prophets don’t get it.  We are Americans.  The economy will cycle….up and down like the tide at the beach, but listen up.  We are Americans.  We will not give up, nor will we slump into some kind of negative, basement mentality.   We just keep working….period.  If that work happens to be looking for a job, so be it.  You will not catch us feeling sorry for ourselves, or slumping in a corner.  We just aren’t made that way.  We believe that anything is possible….and we work.

So, from the Small Business world of clocks here is another look at a designer wall clock from Seth Thomas.  We actually heard about a possible resurgence from this company beginning in January of next year.  I hope so.  Seth Thomas was the first American Clock Maker and it has been in business…since 1813.

We have one of these clocks in our living room.  The Sunflower.  Beautiful chimes with a real wood tone that adds true elegance to our home.

A Surprise in Marble Falls, Texas! Great Place to go!

Hi all, Randall here with PlaceOfClocks.com.  So, here I am trying to decide how to increase our websites presence by focusing on Home Decor.  After all, in this new electronic age, we have clocks everywhere.  The microwave, stove, TV, Computer and even in our back pocket (that’s where I keep my cell phone).  So it is not about time anymore, but rather about finding a clock that enhances our home or office.

Sounds like a good thought.  Hope it is….Anyway, in my search I drove out to visit Dan Pogue at his Art Gallery and foundry, located a few miles east of Marble Falls, Texas on Hwy 1431.  Here is a picture:

As I walked into the front door, I glanced to my right and was absolutely floored!

Sitting on the floor of a small room was this fantastic mud mold for a horse…..HUGE!

With detail that amazed me.   At first, I could not figure out how it could possibly have gotten there….or how they would get it out…..I have posted a picture of it below.

The art work in the foundry is truly incredible and I don’t want to leave out the fun I had going over all the bronze sculptures and other works displayed.   But honestly, I was overwhelmed by this horse…If you are in the area, check this out.  The foundry is open, 9 to 5, five days a week.  The phone number is:

Hi all, Randall here.  Well, we have been super busy.  We have been adding clocks from the Maples line, PS Clocks, and are looking to expand into the George Nelson designer clocks at Kirch.  It is amazing how busy you can be with this business and it does not seem to matter how many are doing the work.  The horizons keep expanding.

I know many of you are wondering how Dyann is doing.  The tumor in her abdomen is dying.   Great news!  And the other tumors in her liver, pancreas and spleen and kidneys are shrinking…about 10% since she started the new chemo.  Praise God for miracles.   We covet your prayers.

No one sees what I see.

I am the caregiver.

The one who helps.

I live afraid.

I don’t feel the pain she does,

but I see it.

The groans in the night hurt me,

but no one knows.

I see the effort it takes for her to move.

The sweat pouring,

dripping from her chin

as she struggles to walk across the room.

Or the effort it takes

to get out of bed,

knowing that the day will be filled

with nausea from the chemo.

I see it all.

No one else,

just me.

The courage,

ever present,

the will to live,

to beat this persistent evil.

I know the pain is always there,

yet at times it seems absent.

She is facing a terminal illness.

The big C.

Stage 4.

And all I can do is be here,

helping.

I am her nurse,

clean house,

prepare meals,

make sure she takes

the right pills at the right time,

pay bills, or not…

I work,

I check on her often,

I pray.

Most of all, I pray.

I don’t want to accept.

I know what it means

to say

“I’ll think about it tomorrow!”

I am a good listener.

I have to be.

In a moment

I can change

to meet the needs.

Somber, laughing, intense,

whatever it takes to help,

somehow.

Everyone asks

what they can do.

She needs friends.

Someone to call,

to say hi,

to listen.

I try.

But I can’t do it all.

Today we received a refrigerator

from some very wonderful christian friends…

All I can say is thank you…

Thank God.

No one sees what I see.

The tears of joy

when no one else is here.

The dedication Dyann has to Christ…

to service,

to loving as much as she can

while she has time.

I am so blessed to see this.

So many are praying with us.

And we are thankful….

especially me.

For I have been blessed.

I am a caregiver.

Jesus said whatever we do

for one of his little ones,

we do for him….

well she is his.

So I am super blessed.
